The Competition in Life is You vs You....

Life is a competition i agree..but i think most people channel their act of competing the wrong way. The Only person i feel we should be competing with is the person we were the previous day. Instead of being in an unhealthy competition with friends and family and tearing each other every minute and second to the day why not channel that energy into actually becoming something great and different and also positive that the person you were yesterday, last week or even few minutes ago. why not support your friends and build a great network of successful people in your close circle who would  offer you great advice, business connections, opportunities and services should the need arise and also people who would promote you for no extra cost than because they know that you also promote them and that that they can also rely on you to act selflessly towards them. No man is an island and no one not even the prophets of God Almighty ever became successful in whatever mission was given them to them alone. You need a team and a network. So if you spend half of your time bringing down the same people that can help you you are invariably killing yourself and you might never become as successful as you want. It would pay you more to support your friends than to spend hours of valuable energy tearing them down or badmouthing their products and services that they offer. If you have a constructive criticism for their work though feel free to drop it in the best way possible that it doesn't come off wrong because most times it isn't what you said but how you said it....Till i write again keep updating your YOU version...

Hey little miss sunshine
where is everything that once shined?
Gone with the wind i guess
or turned to ashes by him
did you forget that all that glitters isn't gold?
or you were to busy picking stones instead of sliver
now you cry a river and wished you listened
when it rained STOP and everyone screamed Don't go there

How are we raising our boys.....

So Growing up as a girl or a lady, you start to get being told what you are, what you should do, what you can't do also what to wear and what not to wear but on the flip side no body is doing so much to tell the boys what they can do and can not do and so a girl grows up as this put together person but then meets this boy who had a lot of privileges and has no one to put him right..Lately there has been so much awareness as to empowering the woman, woman meetings here and there but yet the most crimes in the country are still being committed by men doesn't that tell us that there is something wrong and that we ought to start working on our boy child too? there so much talk as to girls education and so much is being achieved as well and the result is more ladies now know what is due to them and what is meant to be educated and empowered but my fear now is, this same model isn't been replicated towards the male child and so when this educated strong ladies grow up they either unfortunately end up with this men who haven't been taught how to be men or they end up alone because they refuse to settle for less? For this to change mothers and fathers have to do more in raising our boys and the society has to start to think of duplicating this models being used in raising girls to raise boys as well so we can have a balanced society in all....

What are you doing to improve yourself?

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has yet again embarked on another strike action and it is gradually getting into the third week now. The most heart wrenching thing about this problem is as a student you never know when it would or how it would end and neither can you do anything about it. So it is safer to see this as an opportunity to improve yourself...So in this post i would be talking about the ways you can improve yourself...

  • Get a job either paid or unpaid - it is important you stop sleeping and eating all day. Get yourself up and find a job or learn or volunteer in a field you are interested...because the truth is after school a little experience or more knowledge in your field would naturally put ahead of your peers. So forget about TV, the latest movies and invest in yourself for the future.
  • Start a business - if you are entrepreneurial savvy or you think you have a business idea that has been sitting in your head for a long time, this is the best time to start and in case you want to complain about no capital remember the key is to start small...A friend of mine during the last strike  action started a blog and he is one of the fastest growing publicist available right now you can  view his site on www.47vibez.com.ng
  • Get Creative- Can you bake a mouthwatering cake, are you a better writer than Wole Soyinka, are the lines of poem threatening to burst your head open, can you  make creative funny videos or you have always wanted to start a Vlog?....well now is the time to get creative with all those ideas and start to do them...
  • Learn a Trade - lastly, you might look down on your tailor or mechanic because you see yourself as an undergraduate that would soon get a white collar job, what you may not know is that they actually make more money from those trades than would make the regular salary earner want to quit his job. Also in  life, you never know what curve ball could be thrown your way so instead of relying on that piece of certificate you haven't gotten yet, you might want to go out there and learn a trade or just anything you can do with your hands. from tailoring, to plumbing, events decoration, hair styling and the list is endless so the choice is yours to either stay mediocre or become more than just a student sitting at home and is being  limited from achieving greatness  by the strike..

TGIF.....Pamper Your Delicate Self this weekend

I am a big Advocate for "Me time" during the weekend because it not only helps to take off the stress of the long work week but also rejuvenates you for the coming week ahead and there some really easy and simple ways to pamper your self without breaking the bank and i would sharing them with you in this post....
                                            Image result for weekend

1. Start by cooking yourself a great meal or your favorite meal - It could even be the meal that has been on my mind all week long or maybe the recipe you have always wanted to try but which ever one you decide make sure it is something you would love and enjoy. If you don't feel up to cooking you could decide to visit a great restaurant and have a good meal for yourself...

2. Go window shopping or visist the flea market(okirika/bend down select) - Nothing as good as the smell of new things as you stroll through the market or supermarket...well it might be a little depressing if you have no money to purchase any of the stuffs immediately but at least you can make a mental note of things you might love to have when you eventually have cash to spare. I love going to the flea market because you can actually get very unique pieces for almost a steal...i remember buying a very nice jacket for 50naira yes you read right ....it cost just 50naira so take a stroll, window shop, match up pieces in your head and have fun...
my 50naira jacket from bend down select..

3. Spend your time Praying - I believe in the power of prayers a lot and while we might not have a lot of time during the week days to pray as much as we can or want, the weekend is usually a great time to spend a little bit more time praying and communicating with the almighty God. Tell him about your stressful week and also your plans for the coming week so he can help you out with it and maybe you just show him how grateful you are and watch yourself become more peaceful and calm to face the new week..

4. Get a makeover - Whether is making a new hairstyle, getting your nails done or cutting your hair at the barber's. there is a level of excitement that comes with that. Last week i went to get henna design on my hands and the feeling of seeing the new design actually made my week go a lot better, So try to get a makeover this weekend as way of pampering yourself and you would naturally be happier. it could just be even doing just a bit of personal grooming that would give you that feeling as well...

5. Read a book, a poem or just watch a movie - Finally you could pamper yourself by reading a book, a poem or watching a movie. it doesn't matter if you have watched them before you can still watch again to gain a different perspective and idea that you might have missed the first time...
So there it is go ahead pamper yourself and enjoy a fun filled, relaxing and amazing weekend..

Don't Loose Your Self

I recently got a job as a radio presenter for a new radio station in the city of Minna, Niger state. and i now have a belt of my own....My show comes up from 10pm to 2am every Sunday to Thursday and it is called the night shift....I am embracing this new challenge and loving the experience as well. I also get paid regularly as against the volunteer job i was involved in before...it isn't so much money but the station is an urban radio and it does have a wider reach so am getting a lot of exposure as well. It wasn't  easy making the decision but i am at peace with myself now and at the end of the day i am responsible for my decisions and actions...If you ever feel the need to listen you can tune in to the frequency it is at 91.7 FM
or you stream live at www.prestigefmradio.ng....Till i write again do take care..

The Game of LOVE

Playing games are one of my favorite things to do as regards passing time or just being engaged...I love games that are challenging and at the same time less complex to play. which is why no matter how much effort i put in i just can't seem to understand the game of chess and while i would be very excited to jump at a ludo game or play cards, it would hard to catch me having same excitement for chess because as interesting as it is the whole complexity to it just turns me off.
I love to play Games that challenge me mentally but at the same I love to have fun while playing it.if a game is too easy I would run, if its too challenging I would also run. I love a balanced game but then I have come  to  realize that one of my best games is so complicated it takes The grace of God to help you win. what game am I talking about? its the game of love. In love there are no rules or regulations. what works for Mr A might not necessarily work for Mr B and while someone is getting hurt being in a long distance relationship, another person is having the time of their lives in one....while some got married after 6months of being together and are living happily ever after, another couple got married after 3yrs of dating and it crashed the next week of the marriage... with all this examples, it is hard to want to continue loving or believing in love but you have to remember that Love is A game that only the strong and brave heart who are willing to risk it all while hoping it turns out well can participate....so take a risk today, risk your heart and hope it turns great.

Is School Really The best way out?

Growing Up in an average Nigerian home, the drill was to grow up go to primary school, secondary school and then next to the university and study a "professional course" so he could grow up to be independent and learn to fend for himself and the family by extension.....it felt like it worked and it was the go to way to live life. some of our parents even got jobs before they finished secondary school but sadly the set up is no longer the same in the 21st century....these days even your first degree is almost very useless in securing any job that you are either left with going for your masters or deciding to become an entrepreneur...being an entrepreneur is so popular these days that it if you aren't joining the bandwagon of becoming a COE you were looked at like you were just wasting your life but the truth is some of us just wan to help grow another person's dream for a while before we decide to join the exclusive class of COEs and for some, a steady pay check at the end of month is all they want to become happy and enjoy their forever after..
However i have learnt that School isn't only the way one can become successful, Education is not necessarily about going to school, it is more about knowing things and understanding that seeking knowledge is whatever field you are interested and becoming the best at whatever you do..till i write again .....Be Happy

The High and Lows of My Wedding Day

I got married 4th of June last year and as much at it was a beautiful day...there were a few things that didn't turn out the way i did and in anticipation to my one year anniversary i would be writing about the highs and lows....let us start with the lows...
  • The reception didn't really go as planned, the MC was hired by my parents so it meant that he listened to them more than he listened to me...i mean i wanted to throw my bouquet but he said no time(can you imagine), i also wanted for i and my husband to play games but sadly that didn't happen as well in fact our reception was more of dancing, taking pictures and more dancing...
  • The lady that decorated the venue was so annoying, even after paying her more than 75%  of the money, she still didn't let me enjoy my day in peace until i had to send her to my mum to give her the money (Kill Joy)
  • The make up Artist left in the morning so i had to just make do with the rubbish that was left on my face like that while struggling to get the cake and my bridesmaid to the venue..

The Highs are so much i don't know where to start so i would just write as much as i can
  • The music was so good i danced so much at the reception and even my friends had a really great time that they haven't stopped talking about it till today..My husband who doesn't dance sef, rocked so much that his parents were surprised i mean at a point he pulled off his suit just to dance. lol.
  • The cake was very beautiful and tasty and the woman who baked it didn't even charge much and everyone who had a taste enjoyed it as well...The amount of food at my wedding was so much that my course mates said they had double rations of food every day till the day they left and the funny thing is as much as the food was i didn't even taste anything sef (Bridal Blues abi na Butterflies sef) but at least no case of  I no chop sob stories.
The Cake
  •                                                                My Nikkah Dress

                                                          Mr M spraying his Queen
  • My dresses for both traditional, Nikkah and reception was very beautiful and i loved them all especially my reception gown, it was beautiful and very different that i felt very excited immediately put it on.
  • My friends made my day. They were there for me and they gave there all in every and any day. they danced, laughed, helped out with chores at home and catered to my yeye outbursts and bridal cold feet....they were the real MVP.....

My Course mates...

My Bridesmaid and I
On a general note, my wedding wasn't exactly the most happiest day of my life but i was happy and i am forever grateful to my parents and my other parents for sponsoring our wedding and making it a beautiful day within the limits and means they could and even though i was very unhappy about the event, a lot of things have happened to make me understand that my wedding was a very beautiful and i should appreciate it... till i write again Be Happy...

Empty!!!

My mind and head is slightly empty today and i just feel like i need a little time to just get back into the flow but i have been down lately thinking about money, riches and just finally get to the point where money is no longer a problem and mehn, the internet doesn't help that thought process at all..because everywhere you turn it is someone making it or becoming successful and you feel like you are left behind, well the best way is to just stop thinking and keeping pushing and being yourself....i wish i could take this advice myself but then it is a gradual process right....till i write you again PEACE!!!

A smile won't be bad...so SMILE

Random Thoughts

It has been a while i dropped my random thoughts or musings on the blog, well that is largely because i have very busy trying to get started on my final year project and also focus on my volunteering activities at my campus radio while being a wife,  daughter and friend to my husband, family and friends.
So here goes my random thoughts....firstly, why is being an adult such a difficult thing. i mean you live all your childhood wanting to grow up to make your own money, get your freedom and live in a house you aren't forced to clean but then you eventually grow up and discover what?!! is this rowing up this hard because instead of a stress free life you end in a chaos filled situation where you are expected to be matured and also beginning to think of everyone else but yourself, you make money but cant spend on yourself because majority of the time there are issues bigger than your needs to be attended to. Oh wow...that was so much but mehn i just needed to VENT....*shakes my Head*. I think i feel better now but then am not done with my random thoughts so make sure you check back next Friday for more of my thought-provoking  rant induced discussions.

Nigerians and Religion

Lately, there have been a lot of stories about religious leaders having sexual relations with their members or basically not just behaving as the "Men of God" that they claim to be and i have been thinking about this a lot and how much Nigerians have been talking and bashing them and i  just feel like Most Nigerians do not understand the concept of God and spirituality enough. Else all this issues won't be on the front burner. Having a relationship with God goes beyond just going to church or mosque or even respecting Pastor A or Imam B. It is creating your own link and communication channel with the almighty such that you can hear from him directly and talk to him wherever whenever and however. the pastor or imam can only preach it doesn't mean they are the model of what god wants you to be.As a person you should be willing to go the extra mile to recognize who the creator is and what he wants from you once you have that locked down, you don't need to worry or be concerned about what a pastor or imam is doing or saying or even going because you know he is human and you have a special connection with your creator....till i write again stay safe...
